    Studying PSU alumni performances in NFL Week 17 | News, Sports, Jobs

    UNIVERSITY PARK – A total of 44 Penn State football alumni are populating the rosters of 24 National Football League teams. The Nittany Lions annually rank among the top 20 programs nationally in producing players in the NFL.

     

    Saquon Barkley set a new single-season rushing yardage career high on Sunday as the Giants dismantled the Colts, and now sits at 1,312 yards on the season. Chris Godwin hauled in nine passes for a season-high 120 yards as the Buccaneers passing attack overwhelmed the Panthers secondary to earn the victory. On special teams, Blake Gillikin had a fantastic day as the Saints took down the Eagles, as the second-year punter pinned Philadelphia’s offense inside the 20-yard line a career-best five times in the game.

    Marcus Allen (2014-17) LB, Pittsburgh Steelers

    Is on injured reserve.

     

    Adrian Amos (2011-14) S, Green Bay Packers

    Packers 41, Vikings 17

    Led the team with eight total tackles (7 solo), including a tackle for loss.

    Defended two passes.

     

    Saquon Barkley (2015-17) RB, New York Giants

    Carried the ball 12 times for 58 yards.

    Made two catches.

    Sits at fourth in the NFL rushing yardage leaderboard (1,312). Is third in attempts (295) and ninth in touchdowns with 10.

    With 1,312 yards this season, Barkley set a new career high in rushing yards in a single season, surpassing his mark of 1,307 yards from his rookie campaign. He has eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in a year for the third time in his NFL career, and the first time since 2019.

    Made a solo stop.

     

    Sam Ficken (2014) K, Detroit Lions

    Ficken is on Detroit’s practice squad.

     

    Pat Freiermuth (2018-20) TE, Pittsburgh Steelers

    Caught three passes for 36 yards.

    Currently sixth in the NFL in receiving yards, among tight ends, with 732.

     

    Will Fries (2017-20) OL, Indianapolis Colts

    Giants 38, Colts 10

    Made his seventh consecutive start, and eighth overall.

    Played 100 percent of the offensive snaps in the seventh consecutive game.

     

    Mike Gesicki (2014-17) TE, Miami Dolphins

    Caught two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown.

     

    Blake Gillikin (2016-19) P, New Orleans Saints

    Punted six times for 256 yards, averaging 42.7 yards per punt.

    Dropped a career high five punts inside the 20-yard line.
