The strongest basketball league has suspended its business activities in Russia.
NBA spokesperson told Sports Business Journal: “We have suspended our business activities in Russia.”
That includes activities related to content distribution such as digital and broadcast, per a source.
There is no timeline on when business activities will resume in Russia, this person said.
As of now, there are no active Russian athletes in the NBA.
For their part, two Ukrainians of the NBA, Alex Len and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, issued a statement regarding the war in their homeland.
“A great tragedy befell our dear homeland Ukraine. We categorically condemn the war,” the statement begins. “Ukraine is a peaceful, sovereign state inhabited by people who want to decide their own destiny.”
“We pray for our families, friends, relatives and all the people who are in the territory of Ukraine,” Len and Mykhailiuk continue. “We hope for an end to this terrible war as soon as possible. Dear fellow Ukrainians, hold on! Our strength is in unity! We are with you!”
