PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team has made the trip out west for three matches in California. Penn will take on UC San Diego (Friday), San Diego State (Saturday), and Loyola Marymount (Sunday) this weekend. is on the road for a pair of matches this weekend. First up is a noon match at West Virginia on Saturday. Penn returns to Pennsylvania for a noon match at Penn State on Sunday.

The Quakers are coming off a 2-0 weekend to improve to 7-4. They went to Morgantown, W.Va. on Saturday and took home a 6-1 victory from the Mountaineers. The weekend closed with a 4-0 victory at #63 Penn State. In the win at WVU, Sabine Rutlauka and Eileen Wang earned a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Penn clinched the doubles point as Iuliia Bryzgalova and Marija Curnic won their doubles match up, 6-4. Penn earned singles wins by Bryzgalova, Rutlauka, Gavriella Smith, Curnic, and Saige Roshkoff as they earned the road victory in Morgantown on Saturday. The Quakers once again took the doubles point on Sunday against Penn State and then used singles victories from Bryzgalova, Rutlauka, and Smith to clinch the match victory.
The Tritons are coming off a 4-0 loss at CSUN. UC San Diego lost the doubles point but did pick up a doubles win as Rachel Wagner and Adriana Tabares won at No. doubles. They got swept in singles play with losses at No. 5, No. 1 and No. 6. UC San Diego is currently in its second year of a four-year transition to NCAA Division I. Pending a successful transition, the Tritons will earn full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference for the 2024-25 academic year. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
The Aztecs are coming off a 4-3 loss to Princeton as their matchup against Penn is the middle match of three consecutive matches against Ivy League teams. San Diego State is currently on a three-match losing streak which includes 5-2 losses to then-No. 7 California and San Diego. In the loss to Princeton, the Aztecs lost the doubles point but earned a win at No. 1 doubles. SDSU earned singles wins at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 1.
The Lions are currently on a five-match win streak having defeated the University of Arizona on Wednesday, 4-0. They took the early lead earning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. LMU then earned the match victory with wins at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 6.
