HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Ithaca College women’s tennis team bested Asbury University on Thursday afternoon by a 7-2 final score. The Bombers swept doubles to start the match and only lost three games against their opponents as IC then won four out of the six singles matches.
Taylor Crain and Lauren Rodriguez took home the win in No. 1 doubles as Zoe Davis and Eliana Chelnick bested their opponents in the second slot, while Rebecca Andrews and Kayla Shenk teamed up for the win at No. 3 doubles. Each tandem won 8-1.
Crain and Giovana Kelm had a competitive match in the No. 1 singles flight with Crain taking home with win 6-4, 2-6 and 10-8. Ekaterina Kelly also saw her match go the distance against her opponent from Asbury she won the matchup 6-3, 4-6 and 10-8.
IC saw Kayla Shenk up 6-0, 3-0 before her opponent Kourtney Kawta defaulted. The final win came courtesy of an eight-game pro set that saw Caroline Herz win by an 8-4 score.
The Bombers will conclude their Spring Break trip in Hilton Head, S.C. with their final match scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. against George Fox University.
