According to a report by Times Live, De Kock was ruled out as he was undergoing a graduated return to play programme after an illness and his progress was being monitored by the medical team.
Western Province player Kyle Verreynne replaced de Kock behind the stumps and opened the innings in the first ODI, which the hosts lost to Bangladesh by 38 runs.
Quinton de Kock’s wife posts travelling picture with their daughter
Quinton de Kock’s wife Sasha de Kock on Sunday posted a picture on her Instagram story with their two-month-old baby girl Kiara. The former Proteas skipper’s spouse held her suitcase in one hand and her daughter in another one just outside a flight. Sasha wrote in her caption: ‘Kiaras first flight in the bag’.
The post indicated that de Kock was flying with his family to India to join his new IPL team, which bought him for a sum of INR 6.75 crore in the IPL 2022 auction. However, we are yet to hear anything from Cricket South Africa (CSA) or Lucknow Super Giants on the left-handed batter’s journey to India.
De Kock played for Mumbai Indians in the period between 2019-21 in the IPl, he scored 1329 runs in 43 innings at a strike rate of 131.32 and won a couple of titles with the franchise in successive years (2019 & 2020).
After the first Test against India in Centurion last year, de Kock announced his sudden retirement from Test cricket which triggered rumours of the player’s rift with CSA.
