RED BLUFF — The Red Bluff boys tennis team lost 5-4 Thursday to Foothill in Palo Cedro.
In singles play, Red Bluff No. 1 Jacob Gonzalez lost to Grant Wood 3-6, 2-6; John Sheffield lost to Issac Bahr 6-7, 4-6; Todd Bell beat Brody Redding 6-4, 2-6, 10-8; Robbie Richardson beat Kusa Williams 6-4, 6-1; Liam Mattingly was losing to Matt Cash 2-3 before the match was called due to an injury and Mattingly had to forfeit; and Dev Patel beat Ashton Fulkerson 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, Gonzalez and Sheffield lost to Wood and Bahr 3-8, Bell and Richardson lost to Redding and Williams 6-8 and Patel and Eli Moore beat Cash and Fulkerson 8-3.
In exhibition matches, Red Bluff’s Uriel Gonzalez lost to Nathan Lu 6-7, 1-6; Moore beat Elija Carpenter 6-0, 6-0; and Uriel Gonzalez beat Carpenter 6-2, 6-3.
The Spartans were scheduled to take on Pleasant Valley Tuesday and Shasta Thursday, both games on the road, before returning home to host Enterprise at 3:30 p.m. March 29.
Corning 4, Gridley 5
The Corning Cardinals tennis team took a home loss Friday to Gridley, 5-4.
In singles play, Corning’s No. 1 Fernando Hernandez beat Ryan Woolery 6-5, 6-4; Nicholas Briseno lost to Spencer Davis 3-6, 1-6; Hayden Carter beat Cole Leishman 6-4, 6-2; Erick Pintor lost to Cesar Ortiz 3-6, 4-6; Francisco Ruiz Jr. beat Eric Ramirez 6-3, 6-1; and Valente Orozco beat Taylor Johnson 8-6, 6-3.
In doubles play, Woolery and Leishman beat Hernandez and Carter 8-6, Ortiz and Ramirez beat Briseno and Pintor 8-6 and Davis and Johnson beat Ruiz and Orozco 8-6.
The Cardinals are scheduled to host Las Plumas at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
