Unbeaten Jesus Arechiga Valdez has passed each test thus far in his young career. Arechiga understands the importance of winning tonight’s fight, especially if fights on bigger platforms await.
Arechiga (15-0, 11 knockouts) will face Jose Valdes Bernal in an eight-round bout tonight at the Gimnasio German Evers in Arechiga’s hometown of Mazatlan, Mexico.
The junior featherweight prospect last fought on November 26, knocking out Jose Valdez Morales in the fifth round. The win over Valdez took place five months after Arechiga defeated Jose Rojas Romero by unanimous decision.
The 21-year-old Arechiga has stopped five of his last seven opponents.
Valdes (10-5-1, 4 KOs), who resides in Mexico City, defeated Edwin Palomares by split-decision in his last bout on August 13. The win over Palomares took place less than three months after losing to prospect Victor Santillan of the Dominican Republic.
The 27-year-old Valdes has won four of his last six bouts.
In the co-feature, junior featherweight Ruben Vega, who also resides in Mazatlan, will square off against Bralton Munoz Davila in an eight-round bout.
Vega (19-1, 10 KOs) lost by split-decision to Victor de Jesus Albino in his last fight on November 26. The loss came exactly five months after stopping once-beaten Lamberto Macias. His most-notable fight occurred in December 2018, when he fought to a split-decision draw against gatekeeper Oscar Mojica.
Munoz (3-5, 1 KO) defeated Juan Martinez Ayala by unanimous decision in his last bout on August 26. Martinez had entered the fight unbeaten.
The 22-year-old, who resides in Monterrey, Mexico, had lost four of his previous five bouts.
Also on the Zapari Boxing Promotions card, Rafael Rosas (18-1-2, 10 KOs) will face Daniel Garcia Guerrero (4-4, 2 KOs) of Cortazar, Mexico in a six-round bout.
Rosas is unbeaten in his last 11 fights and tonight will mark his 18th time fighting in his hometown of Mazatlan.
Featherweight Amed Medina (5-0, 4 KOs), who resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Maywood, will square off against Armando Zamora (1-2, 1 KO) of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico in a four-round bout.
