LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee narrowly fell to No. 12 Kentucky, 4-3 on the road Friday night. The Vols won the doubles point and singles matches on courts one (Adam Walton) and four (Shunsuke Mitsui).
SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Tennessee and Vanderbilt will log the 91st edition of the in-state rivalry Sunday in Nashville, with the Vols leading the all-time series 66-24, dating to 1927. Tennessee’s longest win streak in the series is 36 matches, spanning 28 years from 1964-92. A win for Tennessee (17-6, 5-4 SEC) would mark its third consecutive win over Vanderbilt (14-8, 2-7 SEC). The Vols trounced the Commodores 7-0 in Knoxville last season. Vanderbilt has dropped three of its previous four matches, with its lone win in that span coming at home, 4-3 over Alabama.

Walton and Harper have won seven in a row and nine out of their previous 10 finished doubles matches. They defeated Kentucky’s Musitelli/Hurrion, 7-6(4) on court one Friday.
THE FIERCE FRESHMAN
With a three-set singles victory Friday, Tennessee freshman Shunsuke Mitsui improves his dual match record to 17-3 (7-1 SEC), and is 27-7 in singles overall this season, including fall action. Mitsui has won eight of his previous nine completed matches, with six of those victories coming in straight-set fashion. His win over 95th-ranked Musitelli Friday served as his fifth ranked singles win of the season and second in SEC play.
MARK AND MONDAY
The doubles pairing of Johannus Monday and Mark Wallner earned a ninth victory of the season Friday, improving to 9-0. Playing on court three in each of those wins, the duo was named to the 2022 ITA Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team earlier this dual season.
CHASING HISTORY
In October, Walton earned his 100th career singles win to become the 11th-ever Vol to reach the century mark in career singles triumphs. After earning his 95th career doubles triumph Friday, Walton now stands five doubles victories away from 100. Reaching this feat would make him just the sixth Vol in program history to accrue 100 career doubles and 100 career singles wins.
