The Bills were 13 seconds away from making the AFC Championship Game in 2022. They couldn’t quite make it there, as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs completed a miraculous comeback to tie the game at the end and win it in overtime.
As a result of the disappointing loss, the Bills will be even hungrier to make a deep playoff run in 2022. Buffalo has enjoyed a great offseason to date, adding one of the biggest prizes in free agency, Von Miller, while strengthening its offensive line as well.
Still, the Bills can get better. They have a couple of needs on offense and could look to address their defensive back seven as well. If they can add more quality playmakers, they well may be the best team in the NFL next season.
Luckily, the Bills are armed with some pretty solid resources and should have a chance to land some top-tier prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft. Here’s a look at which picks they have and what needs they have left to fill with those selections.

Bills NFL Draft needs
- Running back: The Bills have utilized a by-committee approach in the backfield the last couple of seasons with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. They added Duke Johnson to serve as a receiving back this year, but adding a player with true three-down talent could go a long way toward improving the offense.
- Cornerback: Levi Wallace signed a one-year contract with the Steelers while star starter Tre’Davious White is coming off a torn ACL. The Bils could use another cornerback to challenge Dane Jackson for a starting job or serve as the team’s all-important fourth corner.
- Safety: Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde are an elite duo at safety spot, but both are 31. They could soon regress, and if they do, the Bills need a succession plan in place for the grizzled veterans.
- Wide receiver: The Bills added Jamison Crowder to the mix for 2022 but lost Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders during the offseason. They need to add more depth in case one of Crowder, Stefon Diggs or Gabriel Davis gets hurt.
- Linebacker: Buffalo has no depth at linebacker behind Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, so adding one seems likely. Edmunds has had his share of issues at times, anyway, so grabbing a player like Nakobe Dean or Devin Lloyd to challenge him makes sense.
