SHARON — Warren swept host Sharon 5-0 on Tuesday, leaving the Dragons one win from a Region 1 title.
“We really wanted to go down there today and make a statement that we are going to finish the season strong and aren’t planning on coming down from the top of the mountain any time soon,” said Warren coach Travis Myler.
The Dragons are 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the region. Sharon falls to 4-3 in Region 1.
Top singles Logan Fincher dispatched of Liam Klingensmith 6-0, 6-0. Will Strassburg made quick work of Gene Metro 6-0, 6-1 at second singles. Abe Wolf worked hard to get by the first set, 6-4, over Keon Hacker, then clinched the win with a 6-0 second set.
Mark Lynds and Max Harrison swept Shane Rowe and Andrew Joint 6-1, 6-2. At second doubles, Owen and Adam Strandburg won 6-1, 6-4 over Keegan Widmyer and Anthony Richards.
“Logan Fincher showed why he is one of the district’s top players today, and Will and Abe continue to impress,” said Myler. “Our doubles played strong tennis today and will be happy with their wins.”
