WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Women’s Golf learned its postseason destination Wednesday, watching the selection show for the 2022 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Golf Channel. Earning their seventh straight regional berth, the Boilermakers are headed west to the Stanford Regional (May 9-11) at Stanford Golf Course in California.
Purdue is the No. 8 seed for the regional, which consists of 54 holes of stroke play. The top four teams and top two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance from the regional site to the championships, which will be held for the second straight year at Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona (May 20-25).
A change from four regionals in past years, featuring 18 teams, the field is divided into six regionals with 12 teams at each site.
The Boilermakers have reached an NCAA Regional for the 24th time out of the 25 renditions of the NCAA Championships. Purdue advanced to the championship stage 17 of those times, most recently in 2019. Led by head coach Devon Brouse, the Boilermakers captured the 2010 national championship with the second-lowest four-round team score in NCAA Championships history.
Purdue earned a trip to the postseason behind the play of All-Big Ten honorees Kan Bunnabodee (First Team) and Inez Wanamarta (Second Team). Six other Boilermakers contributed as well, with each of them competing in at least four tournaments throughout the season: Daniela Ballesteros, Jocelyn Bruch, Danielle du Toit, Ashley Kozlowski, Thitapa Pakdeesettakul and Sifat Sagoo. As a team, Purdue is No. 44 in Golfstat’s national rankings.
