LAS CRUCES – In the final tournament before next week’s state golf championships, Deming swept both District 3-5A golf tournaments on Monday at Desert Lakes Golf Course in Alamogordo.
The Centennial girls finished one shot back of Deming in the team standings with a team score of 346. Alamogordo was third and Las Cruces finished fourth.
Centennial junior Alex Armendariz and Organ Mountain’s Elinore Warden each shot a 76 to tie for second in the induvial standings.
The Centennial and Organ Mountain boys tied for second in the team standings behind Deming.
Centennial’s Noah Gillihan and Gadsden’s Anthony Lara tied for second with a round of 74.
The Class 5A state tournament is Monday and Tuesday at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Bernalillo.
