The second annual Polka Golf Outing, a fundraiser for the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum, will take place Aug. 14.
It’s a four-person scramble with live polka music at St. Denis Golf Course, 10660 Chardon Road (Route 6) in Chardon Township. Participants can enjoy 18 holes of golf with a cart, beverage tickets, hot dogs and snacks, plus a barbequed rib and pulled pork dinner, according to a news release. There will also be raffles and goody bags.
Organizers are also looking for groups and businesses to sponsor a hole and get a sign for name recognition. They can also donate a prize basket or gift a stand-alone raffle item. A monetary donation can be done to add a name to a basket or prize. Sponsors and donors receive mentions on-site and in the Polka Focus newsletter, the release stated.
Those interested can now sign up.
Donation is $110 per person or $440 per team. Check-in and lunch is at 11:30 a.m. with shot-gun start at 1 p.m.
Golfers and sponsors can contact Joe Wojtila at 440-487-0118 or wojtilasenior@gmail.com or Dave Skrajner at 216-401-8817 or skrajnerd@gmail.com.
The Polka Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates the Cleveland-style of American dance music that emerged from city’s Slovenian neighborhoods a century ago and became a national sensation in the 1940s and 1950s and is still popular today, the release stated. The Museum and Polka Archives are in Euclid’s historic city hall building.
