The 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge is shaping up to be a memorable one, as some of the game’s elites have positioned themselves nicely heading into the weekend in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has shrugged off a disappointing missed cut at the PGA Championship and looks intent on returning to his winning ways after bogey-free rounds of 4-under 66 and 5-under 65 have placed him with a share of the lead.
“I think I have a lot more confidence than I did the last few years going into this event,” said Scheffler. “I’ve made some improvements to my game with my irons and wedges. The first two days here I’ve really seen it pay off, which is nice.”
Scheffler is among many noteworthy names who will have a say in how this tournament plays out, as Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Reed and Webb Simpson are all within arm’s reach. Spieth is looking to not only add to his Charles Schwab Challenge résumé, but is also trying to make amends for last year’s tournament when he squandered the 54-hole lead.
