On June 11, the Prestige Boxing Advisory Group, in co-promotion with BFC/The Last Round, live from Centre Stage in Atlanta, The BuckHead fight series will continue with “Summertime Brawl”.
The card will be headlined by long-time junior middleweight and middleweight contender, and former world champion, Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (26-8 21 KO’s) who is no stranger to fight fans having shared the ring with Kermit Cintron, Gabe Rosado, Joel Julio, Joachim Alcine, James Kirkland, Erislandy Lara, Canelo Alvarez and Sergio Mora, among others. Angulo will be battling Colombian veteran Fidel Munoz who comes in certainly not lacking experience, or power, at 40-29-1 (32 KO’s).
In the co-main event is Atlanta-born resident Quantavious Cash who bring his 14-3 (8 KO’s) record in to face Massachusetts’ Jeyson Minda who comes in at 14-7-1 (8 KO’s).
The card will also see a host of up and coming, exciting, undefeated boxers looking to showcase their talent including New York’s Peter Dobson, Florida’s Raphael Akpejiori, Maryland’s Patrick Harris, local Georgia fighter Dante Williams and New Jersey’s Jose Nieves, among others.
Angulo, who has been in numerous exciting fights, facing off against some of boxing’s very best over his career, is looking to get back in the ring after being out since 2020 and take the steps that will hopefully lead to another world title shot soon.
Cash, a popular fighter, in the co-headlining spot, is looking to put in an impressive performance back at home in front of family and friends.
In recent interviews, both fighters were clearly ready to get in the ring on June 11 in Atlanta.
Headliner – Alfredo Angulo (26-8 21 KO’s)
Age 39, out since 2020, how do you feel? – “I feel good. My body is reacting how I expect, and I feel really good. This is a short-term notice, but I am very motivated. I feel like I have nothing to lose, and I will give it my all”.
Motivation for this fight? – “I am used to fighting in bigger arenas, but I have been inactive for two years, and I need this forum to give a good performance to get a bigger opportunity. I want to get a feel for myself, body and reflexes. I do want to end my career with my hand up high. We have a plan. This is a fight to get a better fight. It motivates me to keep fighting. Most importantly, I have that dog fight in me, and I want to see if I still have that in me”.
Assuming all goes well, what is next? – After the fight, we will make a decision on whether to go on based on this performance.
Your opponent (Fidel Munoz)? – “Colombian, and a warrior. He will give me a good fight. It takes me back to when I fought Richard Gutierrez. Colombians are warriors and have a big heart.”
Co-headliner – Quantavious Cash 14-3 (8 KO’s)
Fighting at 160 – “I feel good fighting at 160 pounds. I couldn’t really make 154 anymore, I feel like a big strong middleweight”.
Moving from Atlanta to Las Vegas – “I am from Atlanta but moved to Las Vegas. Before my mom passed in 2015, she said to me that if I really wanted to make my best shot at boxing that I need to go to where the best fighters in the world are, where the best training is. This is a great learning environment. I always seem to get a fight around the date my mom passed, June 9, and I’m fighting on the 11th, so I always feel blessed to get to fight for her.”
Training in La Vegas – “It’s been great here training at the Top Rank Gym. I have been in the ring with everyone you can think of, I’ve had great sparring. I have been part of some great camps”.
Change of style – “I have changed a few things in my style. I am going to be focusing on being more of a fighter than a defensive style. I want to go for the KO’s, use my fighting more so than just worrying about defence all the time”.
Fighting back home – “It is always great to fight back at home, it’s good to see family and friends. fighting in Atlanta is like a homecoming for me. I’m looking forward to fighting in Atlanta and start showing people what I can do. This fight is at Centre Stage, a bigger venue so it will have the club atmosphere with a bigger crowd. It’s going to be great. I’m excited to fight June 11”.
