FALCONER — The Falconer Rotary Club is preparing to host its second annual golf scramble next week.
The tournament will be held Saturday, June 18, at Breezewood Golf Links, 4335 Dean School Road, Falconer. Teams will include groups of four, with an entry fee of $75 per person. Registration on the day of the event begins at 8 a.m., with the tournament beginning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
“There are 18 holes of golf in all,” said Jim Andrews, Rotary Club board member and co-chair of the event. “Lunch and dinner will be provided. There is also a cash prize for the winning team and a basket raffle throughout the day. All the money goes to local projects.”
Local Falconer Rotary Club projects in the past have included upgrades to Falconer Park and villagewide events such as the annual Santa Parade, After Prom Party and Falconer Community Clean Up Day.
Food provided during the tournament will include hot dogs at the turn and a barbecue chicken dinner following the tournament.
The Rotary Club is also looking for event sponsors, and club members are looking for items to include in the basket raffle.
Andrews said those who do not play golf are still encouraged to participate in the tournament. “It helps, but it’s not necessary,” Andrews said. “Just come out and have fun.”
Altogether, Andrews said the tournament is really about people enjoying themselves.
“It’s usually a really fun time,” Andrews said. “It’s one of the most low-pressure golf tournaments that you will get into around here.”
