News: Romelu Lukaku: Chelsea and Inter Milan still negotiating over finances
Chelsea are seeking to finalise a loan move for Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan but the impending deal is currently being held up by Inter Milan president Steven Zhang, sources in Italy have told The Athletic.
Officials at the Serie A club are believed to be in favour of the proposal but Zhang is said to have baulked at the requested loan fee and wages.
Chelsea want a guaranteed €10 million and expect Inter to cover the full salary Lukaku agrees with the side that the 29-year-old Belgium international left for £97.5 million last summer.

Exclusive: Cork signs new Burnley contract
Jack Cork is to remain at Burnley under new manager Vincent Kompany after agreeing a new contract with the Championship club, The Athletic understands.
Cork’s current contract had been set to expire this summer. The club and player have been in talks for a number of weeks.
The midfielder had the option of a one-year extension built into his previous contract, but Burnley’s relegation meant this clause was no longer active.
Sources say the player was always open to staying at Burnley, however, and his new contract is now set to be announced by the club this week.

News: Gareth Prosser appointed Everton academy director as Leighton Baines is named under-18 head coach
Gareth Prosser has been appointed as Everton’s new academy director.
The Athletic revealed last week that Prosser was in line to take up the role and his appointment has now been confirmed.
Prosser previously worked with current Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell in a similar role at Wolves.
Everton were on the lookout for a new academy director and new under-23 head coach after the departure of David Unsworth in April. Where Unsworth previously held both positions, the decision had been taken by Thelwell to split the roles, something that has been welcomed in academy circles.
Leighton Baines has taken up a new role with the former Everton left-back named as the club’s under-18s head coach.

News: Marcelo Bielsa moves closer to management return with Athletic Bilbao
Marcelo Bielsa’s return to Athletic Bilbao may have moved a step closer after one of the club’s presidential candidates promised to hire the Argentine should he win this week’s elections.
Athletic will hold elections on June 24 and Inaki Arechabaleta, one of those running to replace Aitor Elizegi as the Spanish club’s president, has said he will bring Bielsa back to the club if successful.
Bielsa, 66, previously managed the Spanish side between 2011 and 2013.
At a press conference on Monday, Arechabaleta said: “(Bielsa) is the most respected coach in the world. He is also a coach for the future, although in the past he gave us the best season of this century.
“(Bielsa) has evolved since then and his ambition, quality and abilities are going to take us to the Athletic that we must become.”

News: Inter Milan want to keep Lautaro despite moves for Lukaku and Dybala
Inter Milan’s CEO has said the club are working on deals to sign Paulo Dybala and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku — and want to keep Lautaro Martinez at the San Siro.
Inter have been one of the transfer window’s busiest clubs. The Athletic revealed last week that they were attempting to bring Lukaku back to Milan, while they have also been in negotiations with Dybala, who left Juventus at the end of last season.
A number of their players have meanwhile been linked with moves away, with Milan Skriniar a target for Paris Saint-Germain and Lautaro admired by a host of European sides.
But on Monday Giuseppe Marotta said Lautaro was “indispensable” to the club, despite their attempts to bolster their front line with the signings of Lukaku and Dybala.

For all the uncertainty swirling around Everton, one thing is clear: the days of lavish spending are over.
A squad that was nearly relegated, though, is not overflowing with assets that other clubs prize.
It is why the future of their two star players — strikers Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin — continue to be the subject of heavy speculation and a sense that one, or both, could leave this summer.
Greg O’Keeffe and Patrick Boyland report.
