Terence Crawford still hasn’t found a new home eight months after his last victory against Shawn Porter.
After the Mandalay Bay clash, which WBN viewed at ringside, Crawford announced a parting of ways with Top Rank.
The WBO welterweight champion was rumored to be in contact with Premier Boxing Champions. A date for an undisputed battle with Errol Spence also hit the headlines.
However, nothing has transpired for Bud since then, with Floyd Mayweather denying an October Crawford vs Spence unification.
Crawford was unhappy during his final spell under Bob Arum, revealing his frustration in an interview with Sirius XM last year.
“I don’t want to touch the Bob Arum situation. I’m one of the most loyal and hurt at what Bob Arum is throwing at me,” said Crawford.
I never had the intention of leaving Top Rank. I’ve no clue where my moving to PBC (Brian Custer asked the question) came from.
“I feel like I can get the Pacquiao fight elsewhere. But I don’t need Top Rank to make that fight.
“I wished that Bob Arum came to me and talked business instead of saying all this nonsense.”
Terence Crawford future
Crawford continued: “When Bob said for me to promote myself, I believe that’s not my job. Bob Arum is a promoter. He should be doing his job as I do mine- which is fighting and winning.
“I never cared about the money. I took pay cuts and trash fights in the past. My goal is to move on up, and even the worst pay was a step forward for me.
“I took pay cuts for the Victor Postol fight. Arum and Top Rank said that they didn’t have what it takes for PPV, and even said that they didn’t have the budget for PPV.”
Beating Porter in November was supposed to be the door opening to mega-money for Crawford. It hasn’t worked out that way yet.
There’s still time to get a Crawford vs Spence fight over the line in 2022, though. Furthermore, the Omaha man needs to let his plans be known to move on entirely.
