The 2022 Genesis Scottish Open is halfway complete, and Cameron Tringale maintains the solo lead sitting at 7-under thru 36 holes played at The Renaissance Club. Tringale came back to Earth a bit Friday, posting a 2-over 72 after a carding a career-best 9-under 61 in the opening round on Thursday. But Tringale’s three-stroke edge remains intact entering the weekend after Gary Woodland also came back with a 2-over 72 on Friday after posting a 6-under 64 on Thursday.
Tringale will be tasked with holding off a crowded leaderboard behind him this weekend as other top names look to make a move over the next two days. World No. 11 Xander Schauffele had the biggest surge of any golfer Friday, carding a 5-under 65 for the low round of the day. Schauffele sits T4 at 3 under for the event alongside Kurt Kitayama, Jordan Smith and 2022 U.S. Open champion Matthew Fitzpatrick. Don’t overlook Rickie Fowler either, who sits T8 at 2 under for the event as he seeks his first professional victory since early 2019.
