Iruwan triumphs in Sandakan tennis

Kota Kinabalu: Iruwan Bin Amboragang captured the men’s singles and doubles title in the Sandakan Closed Tennis tournament held at the Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) tennis court over the weekend.In the singles, he defeated Silvester lawai in the final to win the RM150 top prize and the runner-up received RM100 ,while Mohd Ashamie Hafizi Suhaili Rishigeswaran A/L Uigneswaran who were the losing semi finalists each won RM50.
Iruwan later partnered Silvester to claim the doubles title as well by beating Rishigeswaran A/L Uigneswaran and Mohd Ashamie Hafizi Bin Suhaili in the final.
They took home the RM300 cash prize with the losing finalist receiving RM200.
Earlier, the champions defeated Christopher Lim and Mohd Rohzan Md daud in the semi final while Rishigeswaran and Ashamie edged Baharudin Ladoding and Mohd Hafizul Ibrahim Apani to book their place in the final.

A total of 19 players participated in the competition organised by SDTA and sponsored by its vice president Christopher Lim who also presented prizes to the singles winners.
