By Charles Brun: Dillian ‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte states that he plans on being involved in a “big fight” in November when he returns to the ring for the first time since being knocked out in six rounds by WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury last April.
Despite having lost two out of his last three fights, Whyte is gunning for the top fighters in the division, wanting a clash against one of these fighters:
- Anthony Joshua
- Tyson Fury
- Joe Joyce
- Daniel Dubois
- Deontay Wilder
Considering that Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) has lost two out of his last three fights, it’s unrealistic for him to get the opportunity to share the ring with any of the big five opponents on his wish list.
Right now, Whyte is better off fighting 38-year-old journeyman Derek Chisora, as that’s a more fitting match for where he’s at with his career.
When a fighter has lost 2 out of their last three fights and is coming off a humiliating defeat, they don’t deserve to be matched against the cream of the heavyweight division.
“There’s Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk; I’d love to fight Deontay Wilder, even have another go at Tyson Fury. Joyce, Parker, Dubois. But my main focus is to get back at Joshua,” said Whyte to Sky Sports.
I don’t see Whyte getting any of those names for his next fight in November. Even if Joshua loses his rematch with Usyk on Saturday night, it’s unlikely that he would stoop so low as to fight Whyte in November.
If AJ loses to Usyk, he’ll target a lucrative fight against Deontay Wilder because that’s a match that will do well in the UK and U.S and make plenty of dough to fatten his bank account.
Joshua vs. Whyte II would only make sense if AJ was on the brink of retirement after losing a few more fights. That will obviously happen soon enough, but it’s not reached that point yet with Joshua’s career.
As such, Whyte can forget about fighting Joshua because it’s NOT going to happen.
Whyte needs to stick with fighting one of these guys in November in a “Big fight”:
- Derek Chisora
- Alen Babic
- Agit Kabayel
- Zhilei Zhang
- Jermaine Franklin
