By Ken Hissner: At Nottingham Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK, Saturday over DAZN Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) in the Main Event IBO Lightweight champion Maxi “Maximus” Hughes defeated former IBF Featherweight champion Kid Galahad by majority decision. In Co-Feature IBO & WBA World Super Welter champion Hannah “The Banger” Rankin lost by decision to WBA Inter-Continental champion Terri Harper.
In the Main Event IBO Lightweight champ southpaw Maxi “Maximus” Hughes, 26-5-2 (5), #134.4, of Rossington, Yorkshire, UK, defeated by majority decision over Kid Galahad, 28-3 (17), #134.7, of Qatar and Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, over 12 rounds.
In the first four rounds Galahad was the aggressor outworking Hughes. From the fifth through the seventh rounds Hughes came back to outland Galahad. In the eighth round Galahad continued switching from orthodox to southpaw against Hughes.
In the ninth round Hughes landed a lead left to the chin knocking back the head of Galahad. Galahad was warned for using his elbow during a clinch by referee McDonnell. In the tenth round Galahad continued coming forward getting countered by Hughes.
In the eleventh round Hughes was bleeding from a cut from a clash of heads. In the twelfth and final round Hughes may have done enough to pull out the win.
In the tenth round Hughes deducted a point for using his head. In the eleventh round Galahad was cut over the left eye.
Scores were 116-111, 114-114 and 114-113.
In co-feature IBO & WBA World Super Welter champ Hannah “The Banger” Rankin, 12-6 (3), #153.4, of Glasgow, Scotland, UK, lost to WBA Inter-Continental champ Terri Harper, 13-1-1 (6), #152, of Denaby Main, Yorkshire, UK, over 10×2 rounds.
In the third round Rankin was cut on the left eyebrow. In the ninth and tenth rounds it was all Harper with chopping rights to the head of Rankin.
Scores were 98-92 twice and 97-93. Referee was Bob Williams.
Heavyweight Solomon “The Real Deal” Dacres, 5-0 (1), #229.4, of Warley, West Midlands, UK, defeated Dominic “Top Gun” Akinlade, 9-4-1 (4), #305.5, of New Cross, London, UK, over 10 rounds.
In the first five rounds it was all Dacres outworking Akinlade. In the final five rounds Dacres continued outscoring the ill conditioned Akinlade.
Scores were 99-90 by all 3 judges. Referee was Kevin Parker.
Cruiser Cheavon Clarke, 3-0 (3), #199.3, of Jamaica and Gravesend Kent, UK, stopped Marcos “El Comandante” Nicolas Karalitzky, 7-6-2 (2), #197.5, of Temperley, Bueno Aires, ARG, @ 2:21 of the fourth round of a scheduled 8.
In the second round both had their moments. In the fourth round a flurry of punches from Clarke having Karalitzky on the ropes defenseless Referee Kevin Parker called a halt.
Welter southpaw Cyrus Pattinson, 5-0 (3), #146.4, of Alnwick, Northumberland, UK, stopped southpaw Jorick Luisetto, 12-5 (3), #147, Ecohirolles, FR, @ 1:59 of the sixth of a 10.
In the first 3 rounds Pattison gave Luisetto a boxing lesson. In the fourth round Luisetto was cut on the forehead due to clash of heads. In the sixth round a left hook from Pattison on the chin dropped Luisetto for an 8-count from Referee Bob Williams. Shortly later a right hook on the chin from Pattison on the side of the head and down went Luisetto as referee Williams tried breaking his fall calling a halt.
Super Welter southpaw Junaid Bostan, 3-0 (3), #154 ½, of Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK, stopped Anas Isarti, 2-2 (0), #153 ¼, @ 2:38 of the sixth round of a 6.
In the first three rounds it was all Bostan. In the sixth round Bostan had Isarti out on his feet when Referee Kevin Parker called a halt.
Lightweight southpaw Rhiannon Dixon, 6-0 (0), #134 ½, of Wigan, Lancshire, UK, defeated Edna “DNA” Kiss, 15-16 (9), #134 ¼, of Budapest, HUN, over 6×2 rounds.
Score 60-54 by Referee Marcus McDonnell.
