Second seeds have now captured four tour-level titles this year
Rafael Matos and David Vega Hernandez captured their fourth tour-level title of the season as a team Sunday when they overcome Fabian Fallert and Oscar Otte 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 at the Sofia Open.
In a hard-fought clash, the second seeds broke three times and showed their fighting spirit, rallying from 6/8 in the Match Tie-break to triumph after one hour and 38 minutes at the ATP 250 event.
Matos and Vega Hernandez now hold a 28-10 record on the season, having also lifted trophies together in Marrakech, Mallorca and Bastad. The 26-year-old Matos also won the title in Santiago, teaming with Felipe Meligeni Alves.
Spaniard Vega Hernandez has improved to 5-1 in tour-level doubles finals. He clinched his maiden ATP Tour title in Umag last year with Fernando Romboli.
Germans Fallert and Otte were making their team debut in Sofia. They dropped just one set en route to the final, but were unable to raise their level in the key moments against Matos and Vega Hernandez.
