The NFL natives are getting restless.
Two roughing the passer calls over the NFL weekend, one on Sunday and one on Monday Night Football, have caused a firestorm among the national football audience, including from a number of both current and former Cowboys.
The first call came on Sunday and favored the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady, which naturally kicked off the Brady-bias conspiracy theories. Brady was sacked by Falcons’ defensive end Grady Jarrett, who wrapped Brady up, spun, and brought him to the ground. Too roughly, apparently, as Jarrett was flagged for roughing the passer.
The second call came on Monday night, when Chiefs’ defensive lineman Chris Jones sacked Raiders QB Derek Carr, who was still in possession of the ball at the time. Jones brought Carr down and stripped him of the ball, coming up with it himself. But he was instead flagged for another roughing.
Troy Aikman, broadcasting the game with Joe Buck on ESPN, was quite critical of the call.

“It’s too much,” Aikman said on the broadcast. “My hope is the competition committee looks at this in the next set of meetings and, you know, we take the dresses off.”
The NFL’s second botched roughing call in a span of two days brought out several complaints from notable NFL voices (mostly from the defensive side — go figure), including Cowboys Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence:
The nfl is terrible!!! Change the rules or just make the league 7 on 7!!

This is not football anymore. I know we have to protect the QB but Chris Jones was recovering a fumble. We have gotten ridiculous with this.
