Paire is clearly a talented tennis player, but his performance on the tennis courts lately is declining. The world number 175 can’t handle the pressure of his home country and is determined to play in France only when his tennis starts shining again.
“I prefer to play outside of France. If I get back to my best level, maybe I’ll play in France again but there is too much pressure there and new pressures are created with each victory.”
Paire’s last tournament
Paire’s last tournament was in Lisbon.
There, he played a Challenger but was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Benoit Paire was very upset after he had to start the deciding set following a long bathroom break taken by his opponent Timofey Skatov. We don’t know exactly how long the break taken by Skatov was, but it certainly was enough to disturb the French player.
The match ended 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 for Timofey Skatov.
“Le mec part aux toilettes pendant 45 minutes, 45 MINUTES, il ne sait pas jouer au tennis, putain !” 🤣

Yet, during Lisbon, Paire proved his tenacity once again after pulling of some tweeners. See the video in this article: Benoit Paire made a show in Lisbon: what a tweneers! In recent months Benoit has explained his difficulties in the white sport. Here are some of his words: “Even if I am advised not to play. I try to get rid of this thing, because before I liked tennis, I liked these moments of tension, being on the court, but now I feel really unwell.
It is a state of mind that I have had for a while. Right now I dislike tennis, I hate it. Going on the pitch is something that disgusts me. Every time I step into it, I feel like running away. When I find myself on the pitch I am assailed by anxiety, I can’t manage it.”
