A local playing field has submitted plans to build a further tennis court to meet an increasing demand in the area.
As well as the additional court, King George V Park in Twyford also wants to install a new floodlight system and rebound fences to one of the existing courts.
The park hosts Twyford Tennis Club, which allows members to play on the three floodlight courts all year round from “from dawn until dusk” for free.
Non-members have access to ‘Court 3’ on a pay and play basis, but it is hoped that the new court would “improve public access” to tennis and encourage “a wider range of participants”.

An additional asphalt court would provide a “quality facility” that ensures sports fixtures, activities and training are not cancelled “due to adverse weather”, the club claims.
The new facility is set to be located on the existing grass playing field in such a way so that they would “not be effected”.
Its primary use would be for tennis practice and matches, although the club suggests the facility could also be used for other general training activities.
The area would be enclosed by A 2.75m high chain link fence to match the existing one.
