NASCAR Fans in Disbelief as Jeff Gordon Collectible Fetches “Ridiculous” Price

Of course, it’s tough to put something one loves in a numerical term, let alone evaluate it financially, that too, in an open market. But that’s perhaps what happened with a Jeff Gordon collectible, leaving fans dazed and confused.

Recently, a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the iconic DuPont paint scheme belonging to the #24 driver, Gordon, went on sale and fetched…$44,000.

Yes, a ‘racecar’ belonging to a four-time Cup champion, that too, Jeff Gordon, could only manage less than $50K.

This was exactly what left a majority of NASCAR fans in splits as they scratched their heads on the absurdly low price of the car. Many wondered why it was so undervalued, while some joked it’d be a worthy investment for a daily driver.

That being said, it’s also worth mentioning as one NASCAR fan pointed out, the probable reason for this price could very well be that it’s only a shell of a car. This is to say that while it may look like a car driven by the Hendrick Motorsports legend from the outside, it may not be so from the inside.

“I think its actually too high for what it sold at. The paperwork is only for the body and not the chassis/complete car. It doesn’t even have a Cup engine in it. If this was the complete as won car (chassis/body/correct type engine) 50k would be too low,” the fan tweeted.

Jeff Gordon honored with an honoree role at The Amelia

Ahead of its 28th edition, The Amelia, which is an award-winning motoring event, announced Jeff Gordon as their honoree for the 2023 edition. This event aims at preserving the car culture as well as donating to charitable and non-profit organizations.

Speaking about Gordon’s inclusion for the upcoming edition, McKeel Hagerty, the CEO of Hagerty, emphasized how the four-timer is more than just a NASCAR legend.

“Jeff embodies the spirit of The Amelia, often referred to as ‘the racer’s concours,’” Hagerty said according to Motorsport. “His incredible success on the track has made him a household name, but Jeff is more than a legendary driver.”
