Looking for a great place to put up guests in Dunedin?
We all know Dunedin is a great place to visit. And we love it when our friends and family come to town. We just don’t always want them to actually stay in our homes. But how do we get that across without sounding, you know, a little rude…?
Here’s an idea: strongly suggest they stay at the Mai Tai Suites. Owners John and Karen Bickford offer fully furnished 850 square foot 2-bed, 1-bath suites for less than the price of a hotel.
Mai Tai Suites is located off the Dunedin Causeway and is surrounded by St. Joseph’s Sound. It’s convenient to Clearwater Beach and Downtown Dunedin. It’s also dog-friendly (with no pet fee), and offers a free guest pass to nearby Honeymoon Island State Park.
Invite all your friends and family to visit Dunedin — and tell them to book their rooms at Mai Tai Suites today.
Now, today’s weather:
Fog in the a.m.; mostly sunny. High: 78 Low: 63.

Here are the top 4 stories today in Dunedin:
- If you have some time before the Christmas parade this morning, check out the Second Saturday Pop-Up Art and Book Sale at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. Stop by between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to grab a one-of-a-kind holiday present! Browse an extensive collection of books, art supplies, jewelry, paintings, and more. This pop-up sale is scheduled for today only, Dec. 10. (DFAC)
- Before you head to the beach this weekend, be sure to check the red tide levels. The Pinellas County Department of Health issued a health advisory on Friday morning as some areas in our county show high levels of the toxic algae. Signs of red tide to look out for include the smell of dead fish and coughing. However, you can be exposed to and experience the effects of red tide even if these signs aren’t immediately there. Starting next week, Pinellas County will test for red tide daily and post the data to its website for beachgoers. (WTSP.com)
- On Dec. 3, the Dunedin Golf Club celebrated the 150th birthday of golf course architect Donald Ross. Also known as the “Michelangelo of Golf,” Ross designed Dunedin’s golf course in 1926. The special occasion was marked with a donation from Bradford Becken, president of the Donald Ross Society. Becken presented city officials with a limited edition copy of his book, “The Architecture of Donald Ross,” a 352-page pictorial book honoring Ross’ work. The Donald Ross Society aims to promote Ross’ work and the preservation of his golf courses. Dunedin received this gift in recognition of the city’s commitment to restoring the golf course, which Ross once labeled his “masterpiece.” The book will be on display in the new City Hall building. - Thanks to a local amateur preservationist, a nurse’s unmarked grave now recognizes her heroism. David Barmore, a volunteer with the Dunedin History Museum, led an investigation into Gertrude Warnick, a nurse who worked at Littlefield Nursing Home until a devastating fire in 1953 left 33 people dead. Warnick was recognized by the media at the time for her heroic actions, making multiple trips into the burning building to save immobile patients. Unfortunately, the nurse didn’t return from her last trip inside the building, and her body was later discovered in what was once the nursing home’s corridor. She was buried in the back of Clearwater Municipal Cemetery in an unmarked grave next to another unknown victim of the fire. Now, thanks to Barmore’s efforts, Warnick has a proper headstone that honors her actions. (Nurse.org)
