By Charles Brun: Undefeated American heavyweight Jared Anderson wants Dillian Whyte, “slow” Joe Joyce or WBA ‘regular’ champion Daniel Dubois for his next fight.
Anderson feels he’s ready to take the scalps of Whyte, Joyce, or Dubois after his latest victory. It’s fair to say that Whyte won’t entertain the idea of fighting Jared for a second.
Whyte is waiting on a massive payday against Anthony Joshua in the summer in a stadium fight, and promoter Eddie Hearn is keen on making that match-up.
Hearn doesn’t seem to care that Whyte looked godawful in his last two fights against Jermaine Franklin and Tyson Fury. If anything, Whyte’s dreadfully poor performances may have helped his chances of getting a fight against Joshua rather than hurt them.
Whyte was viewed as the loser against Franklin in the eyes of many boxing fans, who feel that he was given a hometown decision.
The 23-year-old Anderson (13-0, 13 KOs) is ready to step up after his brilliant second round knockout win over Jerry Forrest (26-6-2, 20 KOs) on December 10th at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In that fight, Anderson threw an unbelievable 111 punches in the first round alone, which is an unheard-of number for a heavyweight. That’s the kind of number that fighters throw in the lighter-weight classes.
Even then, it takes a unique fighter to throw that many shots without gassing out and winding up as easy pickings for their opponents. Anderson looked as fresh as a daisy in the second round after carpet bombing Forrest in the first round with 111 shots.
The 6’4″ Jared stole the show from former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, who labored to a controversial 10 round split decision over Sandor Martin in the main event on the card.
#15 WBC Anderson isn’t ranked high enough to force a fight against Joyce, Whyte, or Dubois, as those guys will need to be pressured for them to agree to a fight against the Top Rank-promoted Jared. Without a high top five ranking, Anderson has no chance of getting a fight against any of them.
“Hopefully, if he accepts it,” said Jared Anderson to Fighthype when asked if he’d like to fight Dillian Whyte next. “I’ve definitely been trying to go overseas to make one of those fights. Daniel Dubois, any of those guys over there, I’d love to fight them.
“I’d love to fight him. He’s already in title contention,” said Anderson when asked if he’d like to fight Joe Joyce. “What don’t I see? Joe Joyce is slow.
“Dillian Whyte, I already seen what he did. Honestly, he really lost the fight,” Jared said about Whyte’s last bout against American Jermaine Franklin. “I didn’t watch the fight, but that’s what I hear, and I know Jermaine Franklin is a dog.
“Daniel Dubois, he got hurt [against Kevin Lerena]. If anything, they could have stopped the fight for him first before they stopped the fight for the other dude [Lerena].
“I ain’t trying to hear that s**t,” Jared said when told that Dubois said he hurt his ankle during the first round. “Let him [Dubois] get in the ring with me in the ring. How about that?”
