Austin – Texas Ex Sudanwa Sitaram, a former Longhorns team captain, All-Big 12 honoree and well-regarded developmental coach, has been named volunteer assistant coach for Texas Men’s Tennis, head coach Bruce Berque announced.
“We are very fortunate that Sudanwa has chosen to join us for the 2023 season,” Berque said. He has been a highly successful high-performance developmental coach for many years, knows many of our players well, and as a former UT student-athlete, he has a great passion for Texas Tennis.”
Sitaram comes back to UT having spent the last nine years at the Polo Tennis and Fitness Club in Austin where currently serves as director for high performance after being promoted from assistant director in 2017. In 2021, he was honored as the Capital Area Tennis Association Junior Coach of the Year.
Prior to that, Sitaram was a four-year letterman in the Men’s Tennis program at Texas from 2011-14. During his time on the 40 Acres, he served as a team captain for the 2013-14 season, earned All-Big 12 honors in singles in 2012, while also being the Big 12 Singles Champion at No. 3 that year, and was a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection (2012-14).
A native of Chennai, India, Sitaram earned his bachelor’s degree from UT in sports management with a minor in business foundations. He also earned the Provost Award in 2013, was a two-time Arthur Ashe Award recipient, and was a member of the Texas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
