With a great display of power, effectiveness, forcefulness and aggressiveness, Carlos “Chema” Ocampo and Carlos “Tiburon” Sanchez quickly resolved their commitments, in the co-main events which Zanfer opened his 2022 season this Saturday, in the Zonkeys Auditorium in Tijuana.
World-classified Carlos “Chema” Ocampo (32-1-0, 20 KOs) came out firing against Panamanian Omir “Guerrero de Dios” Rodriguez (11-4-1, 5 KOs), who did not want a first round of study and went out to fight with great aggressiveness and rhythm.
Rodriguez’s aggressiveness was used by “Chema” in his favor, and based on solid, long, accurate and repetitive punches, he imposed his power and hierarchy to win by technical knockout at 2:59 minutes of the first round.
“Chema” landed a large number of punches to the face and the body, and knocked down the Panamanian twice in the round, the second of them made the opponent go down in a more spectacular and heavy way, so the referee correctly stopped the fight.
With the victory, “Chema” conquered the WBC Continental Latin super welterweight championship.
“I want the world championship, I want to fight against any super welterweight world champion, the WBC, WBA, WBO or IBF, and if I can with all four, even better. We are at a great level and in a very good moment. We showed that we are ready,” said Ocampo.
Carlos “Tiburón” Sanchez (22-0, 18 KOs) entered the ring determined to come forward and attack, and his strategy paid off in less than a minute. With a consistent, solid and accurate attack, and a very well worked body shot, he ended up knocking out José Luis “Pepo” Espinoza from Jalisco (14-6-1, 9 ko’s), when the referee finished his count of 10, when Espinoza visited the canvas after receiving a powerful right to the abdominal area.
