“During Round 1, we executed our game plan of capitalizing on speed on the greens, putting ourselves in good positions to score, and staying patient,” said Tiffanie Yabut, Head Coach of the `Runners. “We failed to put ourselves in good positions around the greens during Round 2, causing us to give up a lot of unnecessary shots. While it is disappointing to not play well at home, we know the tournament isn’t over and we’ll continue to focus on our process to help us make a jump tomorrow.”
Round 1
Aufa Rachmadya led the `Runners at two-over-par through the first nine holes while Dordevic was just one stroke behind her teammate. The duo came back to the clubhouse as CSUB’s first-round leaders, both carding scores of 78 (+6).
Sophomore Gillian Galicia posted an 83 in Round 1 while fifth-year `Runner Kaleigh Irey rounded out CSUB’s scoring four with an 87. Playing in her first tournament at the NCAA Division I level, recent transfer Yasmin Guerrero carded an 89. Christy Mae Saban, who is playing as an individual this tournament, also used 89 strokes in the first round.
As a team, CSUB’s scoring four posted a total of 326 strokes through Round 1, Bakersfield’s sixth-best single round score of the season. The `Runners sat in 12th place of 12 teams at that point, but Bakersfield lurked just six strokes behind eighth-place Utah Valley.
Round 2
