MUMBAI: In what will surely be music to the ears of many school cricketers, the Mumbai School Sports Association is planning to start the Harris Shield, which could not be held last season due to Covid-19, from February 22. Sixteen teams have been divided into four groups.
The MSSA is organizing a grand function at the Cricket Club of India on February 21 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Harris Shield inter-school tournament. “On Feb 21, CCI president Premal Udani has agreed to host a match between CCI President’s XI, which will include many former Mumbai cricketers who’ve played in the Harris Shield, and the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai. On the occasion, Dubai-based businessman Shyam Bhatia, who has a cricket museum at home, through his foundation ‘Cricket for Care’ will distribute kits to under-privileged kids from 40 schools of the city,” informed a source.
