As expected, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are planning to exercise the fifth-year option on linebacker Devin White’s rookie contract, per Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report.
As Reynolds outlines in his report, White’s performance for the Bucs so far as been somewhat of a roller-coaster, with flashes of elite playmaking ability and head-scratching moments of struggle all mixed together over the past three seasons.
The No. 5 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, White played his best football during Tampa Bay’s playoff and eventual Super Bowl run to finish the 2020 season. He was named a team captain after just one season, reflecting his impressive leadership ability.
There’s still plenty of room for White to improve, but his ceiling is limitless, and picking up his fifth-year option is a no-brainer move for the Bucs.
