By Gav Duthie: Will AJ step aside for an undisputed fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, or will he try to make history. Coach Patrick Mouratoglou is a big fan of Gael Monfils’ game as he says the Frenchman is one of the few that bring craziness and make tennis more spectacular. On Saturday, Monfils handed a 7-5 7-6 (4) 6-3 loss to Miomir Kecmanovic to reach the Australian Open quarterfinal. “Gael is among the very few who bring craziness and make our sport more spectacular,” Mouratoglou tweeted. Kecmanovic, who was projected to play Novak Djokovic in the first round, is coached by David Nalbandian. Mouratoglou thinks Kecmanovic’s game now resembles the one of his coach. “It may sounds cliché but I…

That means Week 15 is the last “normal” week before the Olympics begin, and note that next…

I’m fuming and fatigued about the doomed battle over voting rights legislation. Mad that, in 2022, there is still a need for laws to protect American citizens’ right to vote and tired of having to talk about why the protection is vitally important. My frustration was built over the last few months as the public discussion about the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act intensified — and devolved into a story about petty posturing and political gamesmanship. During the last weeks leading to the vote on those two bills, the story was posited as…

Former Zimbabwean cricket captain Brendan Taylor has foreshadowed a “multi-year” ban from the ICC for a four-month delay in reporting a match-fixing approach. The 35-year-old played 34 Tests, 202 One-Day Internationals and 45 T20 Internationals for Zimbabwe from 2004 to 2021. In a lengthy Twitter post Taylor released a searingly honest statement admitting an approach from an Indian businessman in 2019 for an initial USD$15,000 fee, which caused his life to unravel.
