NFL legend Peyton Manning has stepped into a few prominent roles since he retired five years ago. Babe Ruth’s 714 home runs are one of those baseball numbers that become ingrained in the minds of so many who follow the game. Even after Henry Aaron passed him with No. 715, the Babe’s total carried some weight. He still held the record for home runs by a left-handed batter for almost 40 more years, until Barry Bonds eclipsed him. Even now, those three are the only players to club more than 700 homers in AL/NL history. But what if George Herman Ruth actually hit 715 round-trippers? Well then, Aaron’s record-breaking clout would’ve come on April 11, 1974, three…
Proposed South Buffalo park and golf course needs Governor Hochul’s help before breaking ground
SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Better Parks Buffalo has been fighting for seven years to create a space that the community can call their own. Better Parks Buffalo would need Governor Kathy Hochul to lease the space to them. Attorney Kevin Gaughan and other partners with Better Parks Buffalo call the space “perfect.” If you’re…

By Matt Lieberman: Canelo Alvarez could be challenging WBO light heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. (27-3, 21 KOs) in 2022 for his title in what could lead to him attempting to capture all four belts to become the undisputed 175-lb champion. VANCOUVER – For an older, white male who in appearance and experience seems to embody the National Hockey League establishment, Jim Rutherford has some progressive ideas about building his management team with the Vancouver Canucks. Rutherford told Sportsnet in a pre-Christmas interview that he admires the diversity of the Seattle Kraken, which under chief executive officer Tod Leiweke filled many positions with women and people from various ethnic backgrounds so that the NHL’s newest organization would reflect the community it serves. After he was hired by Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini to be the president of hockey operations, Rutherford told reporters…
