A few months ago, Justin Langer was involved in a tussle with the Australian players where senior players like Pat Cummins had submitted their feedback regarding the former Australian opener’s coaching style.
Langer, whose contract expires in mid-2022, was under immense pressure to keep his position until the Ashes but players themselves have admitted that there was a massive change in Langer’s management as Australia lifted their maiden T20 World Cup title last year.

The Aussies doubled their joy by retaining the Ashes as they beat England by an innings and 14 at MCG to sweep the series 3-0 with two more games yet to be played in the series.
When Langer was asked whether he was nervous about his contract extension with Cricket Australia, the Australian coach replied that is ready for whatever comes before him.
Whatever happens from now we can all be incredibly proud: Justin Langer
The Australia head coach mentioned that the team should be proud of the achievements of winning the T20 World Cup and Ashes.
“No never edgy, whatever happens. Before the World Cup and before these Ashes, we’ve never ever been better prepared. It’s not a coincidence we’ve had the success we’ve had,” Langer said on SEN.
“Whatever happens from now we can all be incredibly proud of this little period. We had two missions to win the World Cup and to win the Ashes. To do that in such a short period is a monumental effort and we’re all really satisfied with that, we’re all really happy with that, we’re all really proud of that. I sit here at the moment feeling really content with the last two series,” he added.
Australia Test captain Pat Cummins said that the players should be given clarity on Langer’s contract renewal as soon as possible.
