DURHAM – Duke men’s tennis heads to Urbana, Ill., on Saturday for an out-of-conference match with Illinois.

The Blue Devils and Illini are set to face off at 1 p.m. (12 p.m. CT) at Atkins Tennis Center. Live stats and video will be available for the contest.

Duke has three singles players and a doubles pair ranked heading into the match – sophomore Faris Khan sits at No. 93, while junior Andrew Zhang and freshman Connor Krug come in at No. 103 and No. 107, respectively. In doubles action, Garrett Johns and Sean Sculley represent Duke in the national rankings, securing the No. 45 spot.

    HISTORY WITH ILLINOIS
Saturday’s contest is the 28th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Illini leading the series 19-8. The Blue Devils won the teams’ last meeting on Jan. 31, 2020, in Durham, 6-1, but prior to that, Illinois had strung together five straight in the series.

    SCOUTING THE ILLINI
Illinois sits with a 1-5 mark on the year but have faced three top-25 teams so far on the year. They, like Duke, are receiving votes in the latest ITA national rankings. During their last outing, the Illini dropped a 4-0 decision at Notre Dame. Graduate student Olivier Stuart is the lone singles player ranked at No. 63 heading into Saturday’s match. Sophomore Hunter Heck and redshirt sophomore Lucas Horve are Illinois’ only doubles pair ranked securing the No. 59 spot.

    UP NEXT
The Blue Devils welcome Coastal Carolina and Campbell on Saturday, Feb. 26 for a doubleheader. Duke will face off against the Chanticleers at 10 a.m. before meeting up with the Camels at 2 p.m. The matches are schedule for Ambler Tennis Stadium but have the potential to shift indoors to Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center if there is projected bad weather.
